Greater Than
Greater Than
Greater Than, is a guide, a toolkit, and a work in progress for an audience I care about deeply: immigrant daughters (including first and second generation daughters of immigrants) from working-class families. It may be particularly helpful for women who are first generation college students and recent graduates.
Why a zine?
Think about the last time you had to engage with a challenging topic. What aspect of that experience helped you feel confident and what was difficult? By utilizing a trauma-informed approach, Greater Than acknowledges that many BIPOC women and immigrant daughters are healing from significant financial trauma. Thus, the goal is to reduce cognitive load - the more streamlined and personable the experience, the easier it is to actually absorb content. Also, zines are fun and rooted in DIY ethos and community, both of which are core values for Greater Than and make it easier to produce and access.
Workshops?
We can be more successful in our learning experiences when we have learning communities and we’re more likely to implement useful strategies and habits when we have communities of practice. A Greater Than workshop offers insight into how to build community as we learn about the complex topics of personal finance and personal growth.
